How are parking sites recommended?
Results are mapped OpenStreetMap surface parking lots inside Irvine, filtered by distance from your selected address. Private lots, lots that explicitly prohibit trucks, and parking garages are excluded. Missing truck access or capacity stays unknown. Category labels describe the closest mapped venue within 0.35 miles; they do not establish ownership.
Past evidence ranks your recorded orders per hour for the selected menu at the exact lot, then published past food-truck events, historical City road counts, and distance. Venue event evidence does not identify the lot used by the trucks. Parking records cover selected Irvine areas and are incomplete. Pins indicate mapped lot centers; lot outlines and nearby measured roads come from source geometry. Confirm truck fit and host approval for the precise service bay.

Data And Sources.
Key sources and limits behind your results.
Exactly Where These Numbers Come From
CityFit uses saved public datasets and your own shift records. Google sign-in identifies your account; it does not supply traffic, Google Places data, parking occupancy or permission to sell food. Opening Google Maps provides an external map or directions.
Foot traffic: Caltrans pedestrian survey counts
The source is Caltrans’s Active Transportation Count Dataset, specifically the 2025 pedestrian hourly CSV (about 76 MB). CityFit uses the CSV fields loc_id, latitude, longitude, date, direction and count. Caltrans describes collection through district pilot projects and vendor technologies such as video analytics. The CSV does not identify the exact equipment used at each of these four sites.
Calculation: For each site and recorded date/hour, add the counts from all direction rows. Add those hourly totals and divide by the number of distinct recorded hours. Recorded zero-count hours are included; absent hours are not filled with zeros. Counts are pedestrian observations, not unique people. The dates below describe the first and last recorded hours, not continuous coverage of every hour between them. The calculations and coordinates were checked against the original CSV on October 11, 2026.
| Site ID | Latitude, longitude | Observation dates | Recorded hours | Total observations | Average per recorded hour |
|---|
Matching and limits: A result uses the nearest survey point within 0.15 straight-line miles of the mapped lot center or venue reference point. The displayed count is rounded to one decimal. A nearby survey is not a count of people entering that lot, likely customers or a live crowd. Caltrans notes incomplete geographic coverage and possible undercounts during adverse weather. If there is no eligible nearby site, CityFit shows “No data.”
Road traffic: City of Irvine historical ADT
The exact source is the City’s 2022 ADT GIS layer, ID 1. ADT means Average Daily Traffic. Its OBJECTID identifies a road record, STREETNAME names the road and Y2022 supplies the 2022 vehicles/day value. The saved file was retrieved October 10, 2026, at 21:54 UTC. Retrieval in 2026 does not make these 2026 measurements. All 345 saved road records and their year fields were compared with the City’s published layer on October 11, 2026 and matched.
What results use: The saved results dataset contains 52 road segments with positive 2022 counts. CityFit finds the shortest straight-line distance from a lot or venue reference point to each segment’s mapped line and selects the closest one within 0.15 miles. It displays that segment’s Y2022 count without adding roads together, estimating a current value or converting it to pedestrians. The service does not provide exact survey dates or counting equipment in these fields, so CityFit does not claim those details.
The saved traffic measurements table also preserves 2012–2019, 2021 and 2022 fields for 345 road records. Missing fields are shown as “Not recorded.” There is no 2020 field in this saved layer. No eligible measured road produces an unknown count, not zero vehicles. Daily road exposure cannot establish parking availability, vehicle arrivals at the lot, sales or current congestion.
Parking lots: OpenStreetMap records and City place references
The parking dataset contains 46 saved OpenStreetMap records, retrieved October 10, 2026, at 21:54 UTC. OpenStreetMap is a community-maintained map, not a City-approved list of food-truck sites. Coverage is selected areas near City Hall, Great Park, Heritage, Hicks Canyon, Mike Ward, Spectrum, Portola Springs and UCI; it is not every Irvine lot. Each result’s “Open Place Source” link opens its exact OpenStreetMap node or way ID so you can inspect its mapped tags and history.
Included lots: Results require amenity=parking and parking=surface, a valid reference point inside Irvine’s boundary, and no recorded access=private/no, hgv=private/no, motor_vehicle=no or motorcar=no restriction. Passing these filters only means the record has no such exclusion tag. Missing truck-access tags mean access is not recorded, not that a food truck is allowed. Mapped capacity, fee, operator and access values are map tags; they do not verify current vacant spaces, dimensions, a current fee schedule or vendor permission.
Names and addresses: CityFit uses a mapped name or lot reference when present. When no name exists, it creates a readable label from the nearest saved venue within 0.35 straight-line miles and a compass direction, such as “North Surface Lot.” Duplicate labels receive a number. These are CityFit labels, not official lot names. “Near” addresses refer to a nearby venue, not a verified lot entrance. Great Park Parking Lot 2 is named from the linked City event evidence. Lot coordinates identify the mapped center, not an entrance or an approved vending bay.
The 94 saved place references come from City of Irvine and OpenStreetMap records, retrieved October 10, 2026. City park records link to the City Parks GIS layer 4; each record retains its own source link. Park polygon centers are venue references. A park listing or restroom reference does not prove a restroom exists inside a neighboring parking lot.
Fees, past events and your own records
Fee guidance links to the published operator or City document on each lot card. A community “free” or “paid” tag does not verify today’s price. Campus and shopping-center visitor guidance is not a truck-vending quote; the Great Park proposal is explicitly marked as a proposal with the current fee unconfirmed. Confirm the exact lot’s current rate and host permission.
Past-event evidence comes from the linked City announcements, newsletters and recreation guides on each result. CityFit labels whether the document names the exact lot, the venue or a nearby event. An advertised food-truck event does not prove vendors operated in every nearby lot or have permission today. Orders/hour comes only from the shift logs you enter, calculated from recorded orders and service hours. Profit estimates use your inputs. Neither is a public traffic measurement.
What To Know
Saved records cover some Irvine parking lots. Reloading does not confirm current availability, fees or vendor permission.
Radius uses straight-line miles. Past-evidence ranking uses your shift logs, published events, historical road counts and distance. Road counts and reviews are not live customer counts.
Profit estimates use your inputs. Confirm truck access, parking costs and host approval before booking.
